As the number of websites on the Internet grew explosively in the past 10 years, users are relying more and more on search. Internet directories, and to some extent portal sties, are getting less and less visits and time spent. While there are many reasons to this phenomenon, one of which that has been less frequently mentioned is this:

Internet users are less "beginners to Internet" as compared to a couple of years ago.

One can imagine Internet directories as menu systems and search engines as command line systems. Command line systems are known to be more robust and efficient but require a certain level of skills in the user.
